Lore Overview & Celestial Cosmology

A mythic foundation for the World of Kaladan and the Age of Crowns

Kaladan is a realm shaped by celestial forces, ancient harmonies, shattering catastrophes, and the enduring will of its peoples. Before the realms rose, before crowns were forged, before nations carved their identities into the land - there was the sky.

At the core of Kaladan's mythos lie three celestial anchors:

☀️

The Golden Sun

The giver of life, order, and prosperity

🔴

The Crimson Sun

The bringer of trial, change, and flame

🌙

The Broken Moon

The scarred remnant of an age-ending calamity

Together, they govern more than light.

They shape magic, emotion, time, destiny - and the rise and fall of ages.

What follows is the chronicle of Kaladan across five great eras.

The Age of Myth - Harmony Before Time

(Era of Unity)

In the dawn-light of creation, the world was young.
The Golden Sun shone warm across the land, and the moon hung whole and serene in the sky.

Kaladan lived in perfect equilibrium:

  • • The forests whispered ancient wisdom
  • • The seas sang to the wind
  • • Mountains shaped the voices of storms
  • • Magic flowed freely like rivers under the earth

Every tribe, creature, and spirit spoke a shared language of existence. Everything was alive, aware, and in balance.

This was the age before kingdoms. Before rulers. Before heroes.

It was the first harmony-the breath of creation itself.

The Age of Heroes - The Crimson Sun Descends

(Era of Cataclysm and Valor)

The balance shattered when a second sun ignited in the heavens, its light burning crimson. The Crimson Sun descended like a divine warning - or a curse.

Its arrival unleashed devastation:

  • • Rivers dried
  • • Forests ignited
  • • Nightmarish creatures crawled out of the burning rifts
  • • The sky turned blood-red at dawn and dusk

Amid chaos, heroes rose.

The greatest among them was Khalis, whose name became legend. Armed with star-metal swords forged from fragments fallen from the heavens, he united warriors, mages, and shamans to stand against the tide.

Under their leadership, the tribes survived. The Crimson Sun eventually retreated beyond the horizon - but its scars remained etched into the land and the stories of those who endured.

This was the age where Kaladan earned its myths.

The Noble Age - Ascension of the Realms

(Era of Flourishing Kingdoms)

From the ashes, a golden dawn rose.

With the Crimson Sun quiet and the Golden Sun resplendent once more, the great heroes of the previous age united the surviving tribes, founding the realms of Kaladan.

Each realm embodied the virtues of its founding hero:

Khalisia

Valor, endurance, desert wisdom

Kimbria

Nobility, prosperity, justice

Laurielle

Harmony, nature, ancestral memory

Nanchia

Resilience, clarity, endurance

Zhojira

Adaptability, strength, storm-forged spirit

Ardanor

Intellect, arcana, curiosity

This was the Era of Renaissance:

  • • Art flourished
  • • Magic was studied and refined
  • • Trade routes connected the land
  • • Temples, citadels, and academies rose across the world

The Golden Sun blessed them with peace. The moon kept gentle watch over night and tide.

This was the height of Kaladan's civilization - a golden epoch.

The Lost Age - The Breaking of the Moon

(Era of Shattered Continuity)

Then the sky broke.

An unprecedented asteroid storm - a celestial flood - struck Kaladan with catastrophic force. The moon shattered into countless shards, and the world entered the Reign of Tears.

For generations:

  • • Moon-shards fell like burning rain
  • • Oceans rose and swallowed coasts
  • • Forests collapsed under celestial fire
  • • The weather became wild and unpredictable
  • • Magic rippled with instability
  • • Realms were isolated by disaster

The Broken Moon remains suspended as a fractured crown of stone and sorrow, its shards orbiting like remnants of a wound that never fully healed.

This era left scars:

• Geographic

• Magical

• Cultural

• Emotional

It reshaped the map, the people, and the destiny of Kaladan.

The Age of Crowns - A World Seeking Unity

(Era of Conflict, Ambition, and Destiny)

With the fall of the last moon-shard, the storm finally faded.

Across Kaladan, crowns rose.

Each realm - weakened yet proud - sought to reclaim the prosperity of the Noble Age. But centuries of isolation had eroded old alliances. Borders hardened. Ambition eclipsed memory. Hope and rivalry intertwined.

Whispers of prophecy spoke of a crown that would reunite Kaladan:

"When the Golden Sun stands eclipsed by the Crimson,
and the Broken Moon bleeds its final light,
one crown will rise to bind the realms."

This is the world as it stands at the beginning of Generals of Kaladan: Age of Crowns.

A world on the cusp of renewal - or ruin.

Celestial Cosmology - The Three Lights of Kaladan

The Golden Sun

The life-giver.

Symbol of order, warmth, growth, and nobility.

The patron of stability and civilization.

The Crimson Sun

The harbinger of change.

Bringer of trials, fire, and upheaval.

Its reappearance is feared - but also revered.

The Broken Moon

A relic of the Lost Age.

Its fragments influence tides, magic, emotion, and fate.

Some believe the moon's breaking severed ancient connections between the realms.

Together they form the Celestial Trinity, shaping:

• Calendars

• Magic systems

• Religion

• Architecture

• Festivals

• Omens

• The emotional "climate" of stories

No realm escapes their influence.
